Happy ILD, I didn't go to a meet but I did wear this JSK for the first time.

I made this JSK in 2021 but never wore it since I struggled to coord it after it was finished. So it just sat in my wardrobe until I was willing to try again.

In June our comm went to the local zoological institute for ILD. My partner volunteers there and we frequent it in our free time so I'm a bit of an unofficial tour guide and know a lot of the animals' names 😅

Between the endless poplar fuzz and my old AP purse flaking and peeling my black dress was a mess so here's pre-meet photos.

also my parents are like suuuuper religious, but not in the conservative way. like basically theyre like: its ok if ur gay, as long as you keep going to church every sunday and pray and stuff

and like, this means a lot to me, because im most definitely queer, but also, like, are they really okay with this ? (I feel like i need to say that im sorta in the clost. Like ive told my parents i wasn’t straight ( heck i told them i was gay once) but it was mostly phrased as a joke and stuff so what if they thought it was a joke. But also maybe they already knew and i was not slick)

more on the religion thing: my parents really want me to believe in God. And honestly, I see where they’re coming from. Like, they found god in their adolescence or early adulthood and decided to pass that on to their children. And while i totally agree with the sentiment, i wish i had the heart to tell them that i dont believe in all of that. But also im afraid that they would disown me for that (not really tho, u cant legally disown ur children where i live) and like, be really sad, not financially support me through my studies or just give me the really shitty part of the inheritance yk

But another thing i feel i must mention is my wierdass gender. So, im afab. and my parents really want a daughter. Like, they considered stopping having children after me because they already had a daughter (they had another child anyway but whatever)

the thing is, im not sure im a girl.

i feel like my gender falls somewhere under the nonbinary umbrella. The gender i currently identify the most with is genderfluid, because there are really moments where i like being a girl and im like: yes thats me and others where im absolutely disgusted when people call me a girl but also i don’t know if i want to be a guy

tl;dr: gender is hard and my parents want me to believe in a god i dont believe in

my greatest fear

My parents (my mom especially) keep telling that they love me unconditionally and stuff and i want to believe them but also… do they?

Like I’m the middle child and the only girl. For as long as I can remember, one of my, if not my biggest, fear has been disappointing my parents so bad they just

stop loving me

and realistically, I know they wouldn’t do that. I know that i’ve fucked up plenty already in my lifetime and they haven’t ever stopped loving me

but im still scared

and like, they say that they want me to be happy, and I believe them, and they say i deserve to be happy, but do i believe them when they say that ? What if i don’t deserve to be happy? They don’t know me all that well. Haven’t known me that well since i was like, 11. For all i know ive changed so much that if my parents knew everything they would drag me to be exorcised by the local priest or something.

What brand is this dress?!

From summer ILD last year. I had a few people ask me what brand my dress was and were surprised that it was Angelic Pretty!

AP solids are admittedly not as memorable to be keeping track of, and AP's style has changed so much since this piece was released (2013~2014) that I could see it being unrecognizable. Still, I love this style the most so I did get a little pang 😂

I have trouble deciding what I want to wear to meets these days, so I chose Rose Dress Up because I love it, and opted for a simple princess-like coordination.

Happy Summer ILD!

I went to a rose garden and walked around downtown. It was pretty hot that day. Next year, I’ll wear a skirt and a nice cotton blouse. I’m still on the lookout for a good one!

I used a free teacher resource pie chart generator to get some stats for this blog and its posts so far. The numbers may be slightly off because I counted manually and it is 2am, but whatever. Enjoy the pixels :p

First chart shows the substyles of lolita that I have posted so far. I narrowed it down to the traditional sweet-classic-gothic + room for error on the ‘other’ coords that might be unclassifiable as lolita.

Sweet lolita was the most popular. Unsurprising! It has always been the most popular and I have no difficulty finding sweet lolitas to share.

2nd was gothic, which was shocking to me as it’s rare to come across gothic lolita pics. I think the reason for this is that gothic lolitas might not have hung out in regular lolita spaces as much- physical and virtual- and could be found more in club and livehouse spaces. I’m sure that I have made up for this in my own efforts because of my personal positive bias towards gothic. Classic was 3rd but not far off gothic. Sweet easily won.

The 2nd chart shows brands of the lolita pieces that I have matched to photos. I managed to put what I consider to be the key major brands on individually, but it’s not a massive selection. I put brands like JetJ and Heart E under ‘indie brands’ otherwise it would just get too complicated and have too many slices.

Metamorphose is the most prominently featured brand on this blog!

I love Kato-san. This is not surprising to me either. Meta has always been popular, and their designs are easily identifiable which suits this blog perfectly. Lolibrary has a decent catalogue of Meta pieces with recorded official names and release years. For the pieces that aren’t on lolibrary I am usually able to locate photos from Meta-obsessed friend’s wardrobes.

Baby the Stars Shine Bright is in second place. Very popular. I have much more btssb to share with you, but I forget what pieces I’ve already shown because I get confused with how similar Baby’s releases are! Stunned that i’ve only shown 1 btssb red tartan jsk photo. Angelic Pretty is the 3rd most featured brand, excluding the miscellaneous ‘Indie Brands’ section which covers 25+ brands. The early AP entries on lolibrary are few and threadbare unfortunately.

The ‘Not strictly Lolita’ section includes accessory brands, punk-type brands like H.Naoto and BPN that do have some lolita lines and are featured in the GLBs but are not exclusively made for this fashion.

If you can make out the tiny writing, you can check out the other labelled brands- IW, VM, Moitie, Boz, JM and Emily Temple (which includes Shirley Temple). The relatively high MmM number is the result of another personal bias.

Today was International Lolita Day (Summer)!! It’s the first time in over 10 years that I’ve 1) been able to dress up for ILD (I didn’t forget and I wasn’t working), and 2) went to an IN PERSON meetup!!! It took a little scheduling and I had to drive to get there but it was fun to be around other folks!

Dress is French Cafe Chest Ribbon jsk; dress, headbow and socks are angelic pretty, purse is btssb, and the teacup necklace is a gift from @kayliemalinza (I love it!!!)

Happy belated ILD!! I wore this dress last year for ILD and I just feel so much more like myself than I did when I first started wearing egl. Especially after finally having top surgery not only do I fit all clothes better but I am more comfortable in my body. I went to vist my girlfriend at work(we are both librarians) and took coord pics in front of her summer reading selfie wall!
